  • The specific version of iOS – if none of the above is a problem, maybe the series of specific IOS earbuds are causing the inconvenience

In accordance with certain problems, let’s find appropriate solutions!

9 Ways on How to Fix AirPods That Keep Disconnecting

1. Check Your AirPods’ Battery Level

Maybe one of the most common reasons that AirPods keep disconnecting is due to low battery status.

So the first thing you should do is check that.

Wireless AirPods require plenty of battery charge in order to function properly. So, if you don’t want to have any inconvenience during a phone call, make sure that your earbuds are fully charged.

How to check your AirPods battery status?

If your Apple earbuds are totally out of power, they won’t be able to pair with any available devices. This might also happen if the battery is not dead but it’s almost depleted.

The iPhone has an awesome feature called the Batteries widget that enables you to check the battery status of your AirPods too. After you find widgets on the home page of your smartphone, click on the Edit button and enable the Batteries widget.

What’s so great about this feature is that it’s able to show you the battery status of other ios devices, like an Apple Watch.

Apple workers really did a great job of making it easier to check our battery percentages. Yours is only to be on time to charge the AirPods before they run to a critical level and endanger your phone calls.

And last but not least, for those lazy bugs that are not in the mood to check the battery by themselves, they can simply ask Siri to tell them what battery level their earbuds are.

2. Enable Bluetooth Settings

To make a connection to your wireless earbuds and other ios device, you have to make sure that the Bluetooth icon is turned on. This refers to iPhones, iPad and Apple watch as well.

If you notice that there are problems with your headphones, even though the batteries are charged, try to check the Bluetooth stability.

How to Check The Bluetooth Connection

  1. First, check if the AirBuds are not connected to some other devices
  2. Turn off your Bluetooth devices from your iPhone, iPad, or Apple watch and turn only one back on
  3. Make sure that the AirPods are reconnected automatically
  4. If this doesn’t work, unpair your AirPods from the other device, and then reconnect them again. Be aware that this procedure will unpair your earbuds from other devices as well.

To fix the AirPods Bluetooth problem, simply open the Control Center of your Apple device and make sure whether the Bluetooth is turned on.

3. Wifi Connection

If a problem occurs and you are not so sure what it is, check your WiFi connection. It may be that your WiFi is somehow disconnected and that’s the reason why your earbuds don’t work. And if you made sure your WifI was however turned on, simply repeat the WiFi connection again. Turn it off and then turn it on again.

I know, it kinda sounds impossible and somewhat stupid, but actually, it works. A lot of users have tried this method and it turned out to be very effective.

Once you turn back on your WiFi, make sure to keep your AirPods and connected device as close as possible.

Note this – Keep your paired devices away from home appliances like ovens and microwaves, cordless phones, wireless video cameras as well as baby monitors.

4. Check the AirPod Microphone

One of the great features of AirPods is that they have an in-built microphone in both earbuds.

So, when some complications happen, try to use only one earbud. If this happens while you are making a call, change your AirPods settings.

Users have experience of using only one earbud which reduces the connection issue and confirms that this problem occurs less frequently.

How to Permit Only One Earbud to Work?

  1. Go to “Settings” on your ios advice
  2. Choose the Bluetooth option
  3. Select the AirPods and next to it find an “i” icon
  4. Go to the Microphone settings and choose to use only the left or right earbud

5. Turn Off Automatic Ear Detection Option

Let’s recall the “definition” of it.

A feature where your AirPods are automatically turned on the second you put them in your ears and turned off when you take them out. This is very helpful for saving your battery life.

However, aside from that awesomeness, this feature has proved guiltiness in causing disconnection problems.

In this case, disabling automatic ear detection can be very helpful. The way to do it is very simple, and the steps are almost the same as when turning off the microphone on an earbud.

How to Disable Automatic Ear Detection

  1. Go to “Settings” on your ios advice and choose the Bluetooth option
  2. Select the AirPods and next to it find an “i” icon
  3. There is an Automatic Ear Detection button which you need to turn off

6. Disable Automatic Switching

Has it ever happened to you to connect your earbuds on someone else’s phone, or reverse? Happens randomly while you are streaming music, doing facetime, or audio calls?

Don’t worry, you’re not the only one.

The automatic switching feature applies to iOS 14, allowing earbuds to automatically switch among ios devices. This can be convenient if you are the owner of both an Apple Watch and an iPad. But it can be irritating because it can randomly connect to a device that’s not yours, and cause sudden disconnects.

This is not such a big problem why AirPods keep disconnecting and can be fixed easily.

How to Stop Automatically Switching?

  1. Go to the Settings and choose the Bluetooth icon
  2. Next to AirPods, tap the Info option
  3. Choose the option – Connect to This iPhone
  4. Unselect the “Automatically” option and tap on the option When Last Connected to This iPhone

7. Keep your AirPods Clean

It is a very easy way to do it. Simply make sure to maintain the hygiene of your earbuds.

Sometimes the reason why your AirPods keep disconnecting it’s because you haven’t cleaned them. Yes, you can fix AirPods that easily.

How to Clean Your AirPods?

  1. Don’t run your earbuds underwater
  2. Don’t use sharp and aggressive objects to clean them
  3. Take a soft and dry piece of cloth
  4. If there are sticky or have a liquidish stain, first gently clean them with a cloth slightly dampened with water, and then use the dry one to wipe the speakers and crevices
  5. Make sure that they are completely dry
  6. You are ready to use your AirPods again

8. Check the Audio Device Settings

You need to establish a proper connection between your earbuds and the device. To do that, select AirPods as the audio device.

This will probably happen automatically the minute you put your buds in your ears, but if not, you can fix that.

How to Turn On Audio Device Settings?

  1. Play music on your Apple device
  2. You should be able to see an AirPlay icon located under the name of the chosen song
  3. In the set of options, select your AirPods
  4. The same steps apply when you are making a phone call by clicking on the speaker icon

9. Unpair your Apple Watch

One of the problems might be connected to pairing both earbuds and your Apple Watch at the same time.

The solution is easy. Unpair your smartwatch and check if the problem was solved.

This refers to other Bluetooth gadgets as well. So try unpairing them too to see if they are the cause of the existing problem.
